Weekday Worship
Worship
and
Faith

Ever since it opened over 130 years ago St Chrysostom's has had regular weekday worship.
The nature of the worship, and times have varied according to the needs of the day.

Weekday Mass
Today our weekday worship centres around the celebration of Mass each day from Monday to Friday at 5pm. (For
Wednesdays see below). This celebration lasts about 20-25 minutes and is a quiet act of worship and the end of the working
day. During the Mass prayers for the parish and for the world are offered.

On feast days there is a brief homily. We find that the weekday mass often attracts some worshippers who are not able to be
with us on a Sunday, or who attend another church on a Sunday, as well as some of our own regular worshippers.

From Monday to Friday the church is open from 4.45pm and the Angelus is rung just before 5pm.

On Wednesday Mass is said at St John's Rectory (the Sisters' house) at 12 Noon, and is followed by a light lunch. On
Wednesdays Church is open and the Blessed Sacrament is exposed between 4 and 5pm. Vespers is said at 5pm.

The Divine Office
Morning Prayer is often said at 9.30am from Monday to Friday, and at 10am on Sundays. Click here for a version of the
Morning Office we use at Church.
Vespers is said at 5pm on Wednesdays. Vespers is a simplified version of Evening Prayer
from Common Worship.

Weekday worship is said in the Anson Chapel. The Blessed Sacrament is reserved here and the space is ideally suited for
worship with a smaller number of people.
