The Seven Sacraments
Worship
and
Faith
"Because your soul has been joined to your body, God gives you spiritual things in material things'
St John Chrysostom (Homilies on Matthew's Gospel)

The celebration of the sacraments is the life, and focus of faith, at St Chrysostom's.
We are renewed and strengthened by the sacraments - sure ways in which God shows love and grace to us.

In
Baptism and Confirmation we are drawn in to full membership of the Christian Church. As much as possible these
sacraments are celebrated in the normal worship so that we can, together, affirm and encourage one another in our faith.

The
Mass (Holy Eucharist) is the sacrament which above all unites and strengthens our christian community. Whatever our
background, outlook, gender or sexuality, we are all welcomed at Mass - Christ our Lord welcomes all to his table.

We encourage couples to receive God's blessings upon their relationships, and welcome all enquiries for
marriage.

As we journey in our Christian faith each of us needs particualr moments of forgiveness or strengthening in times of sickness
or healing.
Confessions are heard regulalry at St Chrysostom's, after Mass on a Thursday evening, or by request. Times of
confession before Easter and Christmas are advertised beforehand. The minstry of the laying on of hands takes place often
at Benediction on a Sunday evening and the Sacrament of
Anointing is available for the sick, and for those seeking God's
healing.

We are delighted that several members of our congregation have gone forward to
ordination. The parish has a tradition in
encouraging young people to consider ministry in the church, and each academic year we have a parish assistant on
placement with us. This is usually someone from another diocese who is considering ordination, and wishes to gain experience.
